Brandon's Goal Foundation!

Over the summer, or August I should say, myself and a couple of other artists were asked to create a 30 second commercial for Brandon's Goal Foundation. Brandon's Goal is a charity that focuses on childhood cancer and aims to raise awareness as well as raise money to support research for childhood cancer. More info at their website here! Trying to finish this thing before classes started was hectic but was an awesome experience.

Here is the full commercial (I was responsible for the first shot). The challenging part was of course the plane, trying to keep the volume consistent and having it rotate smoothly. A classmate suggested doing it in Maya and drawing over but that takes all the fun out of it! Our small group consisted of  Wendell Dalit, Youri Dekker, Kevin Lam, Catharina Sukiman and myself.

Edith and the Bear!

Last semester for my advanced animation class, I had the pleasure to work on a cute and fun short film directed by Hillary Bradfield. Here are a couple of pencil tests I did for it. Overall fun experience, I really enjoy these film projects and I learn a lot from each one.

3D Time!

Here are two shots from my intermediate digital animation class last semester spring '13.
Our goal for the first shot was to animate a character picking up an item.

I really like the cartoony style of animation and I tried to incorporate that here for this character.

For the second shot we had to take a pose we worked on previously and create a before or after animation from it.

Here's the pose I chose

and the outcome.

I tried to push myself more than the last shot and tried to think of a reaction to a loud sound that would have a bunch of movements. Happy with it but if I were to redo it I would add more frantic actions during and after the landing.

Pokemon Charity!

A while ago I was able to take part in a charity auction where 151 artists recreated the original 151 Pokemon. The website is now up and all proceeds go towards Canines for Disabled Kids! Here's the link to mine as well as the website where you can check out other Pokemon!

I had two versions and had such a hard time deciding which way to go that I painted both, and still couldn't decide in the end. Eventually I decided that since I enjoy drawing in a more comic and dark style that the outcome should reflect my style and went with this one!

Here's the other more comical version.

Superhero stuff

I always enjoyed drawing and painting superheroes growing up. Since I been doing it so long, it's a great way for me to look at my skills over the years and see how far I've come along. Here are some more recent but not so recent work.

Ani 115

For my 115 class we had to create a short 30 second film. Mine ended up being around 50 something seconds, whoops. The idea for it started from a couple of drawings of a boy and a dog exploring in the forest. After some back and forth with the class during a pitch, it evolved into a hunter and a bear. And the story for it came from joke someone made about the characters and eventually everyone agreed why not, it'll be funny.

114 tests

A couple of tests from my 114 class at SJSU. A sack drop and a sack pantomime final. I have more tests I would like to share but unfortunately I didn't save the tests to my hard drive. I still have to original animation so maybe in the future when I feel nostalgic I'll shoot it again!
